Official statement of the Stakeholder engagement committee. ANCYL WARD 48

The Stakeholder Engagement committee would like to take this opportunity to extend its gratitude for the support received from the ANC mother body of the branch and the Zone, the ward Councillor, the ANCYL BEC and branch Members, the RTT, branches of zone 7, SANBS, miss Dobsonville foundation and Dobsonville shopping center together with everyone who put in time to ensuring the success of the blood donation programme. Special thank you to comrade China Nawane for bringing such a great idea to the committee and a very special thank you to the committee members Cde Masloa, Cde Monwabisi, Cde SB, Cde Jake, Cde Beef, Cde Xolani amongst others for bringing the idea to life and implemeting it to the success it was yesterday. Every programme should aim to have impact, not only on the members of the ANC but also on the community in general. It is such programmes as the blood donation one that are needed to bring the ANC closer to the people. This impact is displayed in the statistical achieved by the ANCYL through the blood drive on November 19.

The branch targeted to have 50 people donate blood. The target was greatly surpassed as 84 people donated blood on the day. This is by the way a great achievement as the SANBS is only able to achieve 40 maximum donation a day in a mall, which happens to be one of the busiest places. 37 people were tested for HIV through VCT (Voluntary testing and counselling ). 27 of these were young people. This goes to show that we helped 27 young people know their status and live a healthy and responsible lifestyle. On an average day only 14 VTCs are done. Again showing the impact of the programme on our people.

The blood donation programme was not only a statistical success, but should be seen as a political success for the branch. The team work displayed by members of the branch indeed showed that working together as a collective we can achieve anything. And for that we say THANK YOU COMRADES.

As we now pave a way forward for the branch, we plead with the incoming branch leadership to keep the flag of running programmes that are impactfull on the community flying high. We have built great relations with many stakeholders in the community and these should be used to advance the youth agenda of economic freedom in our lifetime while taking into consideration the social and lifestyle conditions of our people. SIYABONGA MAQABANE.
